George and Bob at the Green Valley Tournament
The USBGA really enjoyed George and Bob when they came to the tournaments. George seemed to be so pleased that he could again enjoy the game of golf, especially playing with sight limited players as we do.
He will be missed.. Dick Pomo, President USBGA

DEDICATION TO SCOTT SIMONSON
Scott was a low key guy with a high key background. A Navy career man that never said much about it but showed it with his carriage under stress. He was a damn good golfer, never pounding it far but always at the green. He aced the 12th hole one winter day a few seasons ago and his reaction was bland. I asked him how many times that particular shot followed and he said," that was his first". We prodded him into a few grins and fist bumps but his philosophy was " steady as she goes" He would come around with a few dozen balls he found on his walks and handed them over with a grin. Yes my consumption of balls needed constant replenishment.
My friend Brian Glen said "I was fortunate to play with Scotty a couple of times and ride with him...William wouldn't put us together because when we played together...we usually won on Mondays. He was a fun guy to ride with...never talked about the service...mostly about golf and his grandkids...I do remember on the 16th hole one Monday round we both made birdies back to back and he actually smiled and laughed...and I got him to give a high five...I remember we won big that day which was probably the last time William let us play together. He wasn't long...but hit it straight and usually was in every hole".
I played with a few navy officers in Newport Rhode Island recently and their bearing and "Sirs", made me think of Scott. We had talked about Newport and his years there. Turns out he was Navy Captain, the equivalent of an Army Colonel. No small feat to rise to that rank. That was typical Scott," that was then, and this in now, I am one of the guys and I love it so It was my privilege to play with and know Scott, he was a good man and I miss him very much.
